AHMET NECDET SEZER


Ahmet Necdet Sezer He was born on September 13th, 1941 in Afyon, in the Aegean region of Anatolia. He was graduated from Afyon High school in 1958 and from Ankara University Law Faculty in 1962. Same year he started as a candidate judge of Ankara. During his military service he served as a reserve officer in the Army War Academy. Later on he became a judge in Dicle - Yerköy and then in the Supreme Court Investigation.

He continued to study Civil Code Law between 1977-78 and got his PhD from Ankara University. In 1983 he was elected as a Supreme Court member. While he was in the Division Two of the Supreme Court in 1988 he was appointed to the Court of Constitution as a primary member by the President of the Republic. In 1998 he became the Head of the Court of Constitution.

On May 16th, 2000 he was elected by the Parliament as the 10th President of the Republic after Mr. Demirel for a term of seven years. He's married and has three children.
